Greetings blog land.

I've been keeping busy of late with many Civil Air Patrol activities. I just became the public affairs officer for my squadron, so there have been articles to write and pictures to take. I'm still the finance officer too, and we're switching to a new program state-wide so I have to keep on top of that. My unit is having a banquet in September, and I am lucky enough to be in charge of planning it. And of course, there's the Group 5 Cadet Leadership School, where I'll be serving as the Commandant of Cadets. I'm only teaching 9 classes, so it isn't too bad.

It has been excessively warm here in Springfield, so Starbuck and I have been spending a lot of time inside. She'd say hello, but she's sleeping on the floor right now. It has been an exhausting day for her thus far, complete with a game of fetch and playing in the rain. Last night, she chewed off a corner of my blanket, so she's probably also very stressed out about how unhappy I was. Unfortunately, she's just a dog, so she probably won't actually link my unhappiness with her chewing.

Of course I bring some fun links for my blog:

Hurricane Dean from the International Space Station (video)

Another NASA one: Climate Data Error found (or: why it pays to have good attention to detail)

Let's do more NASA! Astronauts like playing with cameras just like normal people.

Scientists unlock the secret of the Rubik's cube (but don't share the answer, apparently)

German scientists claim they've broken the speed of light
