September was a very busy month for me! There was the Cadet Leadership School early in the month and it never slowed down after that. We did the squadron banquet the same week, which was fun but took a lot of energy. The next weekend, my squadron helped welcome home a National Guard unit that had been deployed to Iraq by providing a color guard and plenty of teary-eyed, flag waving support from the adults. Somewhere in there, I visited Rolla and Joplin with work, visited the local station several evenings for observations, and spent a weekend in KC with my Dad. I also started teaching a church class (they gave me the "easy group" - 14 yr old girls).
October starts slowing down in terms of activities I have to go places for, but starts ramping up in terms of work since Christmas is on the way. This week I'm only doing two sort observations. :) Vacation is also on the way!
As always, I've collected links. This is far more entertaining to me than creating an update post, so hopefully you enjoy them too.
Let's start with THE CUTE. Puppy whistles in response to owner. (Video)
Chuck Norris doesn't request clearances, he states intentions. Aviation related Chuck Norris sayings.
Between the last post and this one, some CAP aviators lost their lives while searching for a missing teen. This article talks about why we go search for people. We've also been active in the search for Steve Fossett (not my wing, but the CAP units in that area).
The most successful pirate of all time was beautiful and tough.
Video of quirky little machines. Complete with annoying theme song goodness.
Video of a very hungry kitten. I'm not sure if that's cute or terrifying.
Grocery store commercial with Darth Vader. I'm not sure how else to explain this video, except to say it is funny.
The 8 most common sci fi visions of the future (and why they'll never happen). And why will we never have a government that takes over our lives? Too much incompetence.
This Search and Rescue patch amused me.
Did you all hear about the state senator who sued God? One did, for "widespread death, destruction, and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants." Apparently, God has responded.
Finally because everyone should see this video, Who's on First?
